If you are planning a project near a watercourse, you must check with the Ross County Floodplain Administrator before proceeding. Doing this is important, since it may affect your ability to get other permits, financing, insurance, etc. Federal law requires that Ross County carefully monitor and control development in floodplains. If you are interested in a floodzone determination for property you own in Ross County, please email us your property address. We will promptly return your email with a map showing the floodzone areas.
To determine if a home or property is located in a Special Flood Hazard Area you can search the Ross County Auditors Online GIS mapping system for information. Go to http://co.ross.oh.us/auditor/. Under property search select Map. Click on the Basemap tab on the left. Next checkmark Flood Zone and FIRM Panel. On the map zoom in to the subject property and use the select icons to determine the floodzone type. Be sure to have the Flood Zone layer title highlighted on the left. If you have any questions or need help call 740-773-7200 or 740-702-3008.
